10 Cafes to Visit in Penang

Check out Part 2 here.
With the booming of cafe culture in Penang, we Penangites are spoiled,
and sometimes troubled by the crazy selections of cafes that are available.
So if you're planning on a cafe-hopping trip in Penang,
or if you're decidophobic, I've come up with a list of cafes
that I personally think are worth visiting, hopefully to help a little bit.
When I say 'worth visiting', the food is good and the price is reasonable.
I'm not a fan of pretty cafes where I can take thousands of selfies
but the food sucks and burns a hole in my pocket. No, I'm not fussy.
Anyway, here goes:

Mr Benedict [RM22.90] | Available from 8am - 2pm
Tucked in the narrow lorong of Hutton Lane(near New World Park),
this place serves the best eggs benedicts in Penang, good coffee(on the acidic side)
and desserts. Portion is quite big for me, great for sharing.
Opening hours
Monday, Wednesday to Sunday 8am - 12am
Closed on Tuesday
Non-halal
019 - 5288112
205, Jalan Hutton 10500 Georgetown Penang

Phat Thai [RM10.80]
Angelababie [RM12.80]
Greentea / Oreo / Strawberry Cheesecake [RM10.90 each]
First and only(so far) cafe in Penang that serves premium Peaberry coffee from Thailand.
Apart from exquisite coffee, go for their matcha latte, it's mixed with herbs and tastes magical!
They serve authentic Thai as well as Western food and desserts that go well with a cuppa.

Manages by two passionate ladies, this place is all about serving the people
with good food, cozy ambiance that feeds their soul.
Serving all day breakfast, pastas and pizzas with a little bit of Japanese flair.
Best part is, they play indie songs. Vance Joy ftw!
The only bummer is that they don't have brewed coffee, no latte for me.
Go for their colorful and healthy thirst-quenchers or beer.

Caramel Sea Salt Macchiato [RM9.50]
Located at the bustling Bishop street, handcrafted coffee and pasta are their specialties.
For main dish, go for their popular Carbonara and newly added Ebiko Alfredo.
Try their salted caramel walnut tart and creme brulee, those are made by a French chef!
Complete your meal with a nice cuppa Caramel Sea Salt Macchiato
or Hot Chocolate for non-coffee drinker.

a combination of croissant and doughnut.
They serve good coffee too! Try their dirty chai latte(espresso+chai), it's a secret menu!
No proper food though. Only churros, cronuts and variety of cheesecakes.

Hot Chocolate [RM13]
More like a restaurant than cafe, this place is classy, elegant with a little bit of quirk.
Situated in an old English mansion honoring Sir Norman Macalister,
they serve nice afternoon tea set, coffee and TWG tea. Best place for photos!
They also have interesting and yummy desserts,
I highly recommend their chocolate truffle with pistachio!
Do check out their homemade jam(sweet and savory) and European bread as well.
