Chinese New Year Buffet at G Hotel

With my extraordinary way of holding chopsticks, I can get more yee sang than anybody can!
As Chinese New Year is coming real soon and if you're terrified of steamboat reunion dinner
like I am, gather around with your family at a buffet dinner could be the best idea ever.

Yee Sang, one of the must-eat to welcome the festive season.
In Chinese custom, we believe that the higher you toss the yee sang,
the more luck and fortune will come your way.

This has to be the happiest moment at the buffet dinner.
Yell out loads of auspicious wishes while you toss the yee sang
to bring good fortune, wealth and health in the new year.
I normally just laugh throughout the whole thing cause I would always thought of
some unrelated Chinese idioms such as 人山人海 and 身骑白马.
After making a mess on the table with yee sang remains, let the buffet begin!
Mussels, Scallops and Prawns fresh from the sea,
spice them up with Tabasco or Worcestershire(Lea & Perrins) sauces.
Fish Maw Soup
A tasty one double-boiled with Chinese herbs, chicken, dry scallops and red dates.
Opt for their Seafood Chowder if this is not your type, it's creamy and
I don't know what makes the croutons extraordinarily crunchy and yummy!
Dim sum such as siew mai, kaya bao and deep fried Asian tapas.
Hong Kong Fried Noodle
Wok Fried Prawns with Salted Egg Sauce
Mussel Sambal
Chili Crab
Braised Lamb with Radish
Beef Rendang
Some of the mains; Try the chef's recommendation Fried Prawn Golden Egg with York sauce.
Deep fried prawns cooked together with salted egg york, cili padi, curry leaves and butter.
The Hong Kong fried noodle was so good that Laygin who was
sitting beside me wouldn't stop talking about it.
Roasted Chicken and Peking Duck
Tried to recreate my very dreamy roasted duck I took during Christmas but failed miserably.
Good on its own or you can request to wrap the crispy peking duck slices with cucumber strips.
Baked Salmon with Chili Mayo
The preparation of this dish was creative. Whole salmon was marinated with
chili sauce, mayonnaise, onion and capsicum then baked to perfection.
Tender and creamy, it was a delightful twist to the ordinary salmon.
Penang char koay teow is available at the Show Kitchen.
Don't miss the poultry and seafood goodness at the Live BBQ Counter
as the selections are sweeping. Tried the lamb chop with mint sauce,
it was delicious and... I forgot to take pictures of it.
Now sweet dessert time!
Me and Penny were all giddy when we saw rojak was on the buffet table!
Okay we were basically excited when we see each and every desserts they have,
chocolate fondue FTW!
Barley and Beancurd Dessert with Ginkgo
As much as I love Western and European desserts,
lighter Asian tong shui is often on my craving list as well
especially those with milk, ginkgo and ginger. So happy they have this here!
Greentea Cake
Apom
Blueberry Mousse in Glass
Mango Mousse with Mix Berries Compote
Some of the sweets available, there is ice-kacang as well and not to forget,
Gelatomio ice-creams with googly eyes!
I think I have been followed by this bear since Kumamono...
Literally jumped when I saw this picture and then burst out laughing.
