Delicious Cafe Bangsar Village II | Tapas & New Menu

When many thought that I'm a lady and to quote Jhu that I'm a glamorous little girl,
little did they know that I'm actually uncivilized.
No matter where I am, be it a cafe or a atas Japanese restaurant,
shoes are off and legs are up. Anyway, that has nothing related to this post,
uncivilized people are still entitled to eat good food.

Embellished with soft turquoise blue, quirky black and white bird cages and stylized trees,
Delicious Cafe has always reminded me of beach wedding, minus the sand and sea breeze.
The group, Delicious Group was established in 2004 with 11 outlets in Kuala Lumpur.
Untung lah KL people, they used to have one in Penang but unfortunately it was closed.
Anyway, we were here recently for their new menu tasting!
Its CEO, Steve Allen just came back from his trip to UK and Barcelona for food trend research and
launched 16 new and improved dishes in conjunction with its new Inspired by Tapas specials.

"I have stripped the delicious menu bare and looked at new and old favorites and how we can improve them.
Simple sauces such as tomato sauce have now been enhanced by fresh vegetables such as fennel,
shallots and leeks as well as fresh herbs including tarragon and parsley,"
said Steve.

Now let's dig into their Inspired by Tapas dishes!
When I first heard about it, I thought the serving was going to be bite-size
from my tapas experience which we spent so much money and still left with half-empty stomach.
But here, their tapas are "inspired", so the serving was perfect and influenced from the Middle East to Asia.
Baked Pumpkin with Grilled Prawns [RM17.50]
It started interesting with this intriguing thing on the side that looked like banana but
it was baked pumpkin! Presented together with big grilled prawns
with sour and spicy sauce and fragrant rocket leaves.
Creamed Garlic Mushrooms with croutons and poached eggs [RM13]
Mushroom lovers would, I mean might scream when they see this.
Three types of mushrooms were cooked in creamy garlic sauce,
topped with bouncy poached egg and crunchy croutons.
It's a combination of hard and soft, very pleasing to the palate.
Baked Chicken Thigh with Romesco Sauce and Toasted Almonds [RM15.50]
Absolutely in love with this one where the skin was thin, a little bit crispy and lightly salted.
The chicken thigh was well executed and juicy, complemented well with the flavorful sauce while
the crunchy almond flakes were the icing on the cake!
Grilled Beef Skewers [RM18]
Tasted as good as they looked, the beef cubes were surprisingly tender even after we
took too much time to photograph them. Skewed together with tomatoes, red onions
and peppers, do not ignore the garlic fried potatoes at the side as they were really good!
Black Cod [RM18]
Drowned in capsicum sauce, we were surprised to see cod fish there and
even more surprised to learn that it's only priced at RM18! Ridiculously cheap lar!
It was soft and chewy, the sauce definitely made this dish more appetizing.
If you haven't noticed, the prices of the tapas range from RM8 to RM18 only.
Created by both Steve and their executive chef Sandy Alan Rowe
the Inspired by Tapas menu are available from Jan 4 to March 31 only.
So quick go eat!
Now to the new menu dishes!
Pumpkin Risotto Balls Mushroom and Rosemary Risotto Balls [RM13.50]
That's a spicy meatball! Shame on you if you didn't get that reference from The Mask.
And the balls were not actually spicy. Looking nothing compliment-able from the outlook,
these risotto balls would surprise you with pumpkin and mushroom bits inside
and you must not forget to dip in the pesto mayo, it was garlicky yum!
Roasted Pumpkin, Coconut and Beef Serunding Salad [RM26.50]
Salad with serunding? Interesting.
Drizzled with spice lime dressing, this salad has got to be the most flavorful
and rich in texture salad I have ever tasted. Sweet, soft pumpkins. slightly hard papaya,
crunchy greens topped with beef serunding with an extra coconut fragrant and tad bit spicy dressing.
 Crunchy Chicken Wings [RM18]
Who doesn't fancy chicken wings? Not just the ordinary ones, these were coated with
super crispy bread crumbs with sesame and seaweed crust sided with mustard mayonnaise.
So much flavors in one chicken wing!
Wild Mushroom Wrap [RM26.50]
This healthy wrap was loaded with cherry tomatoes, three types of grilled mushroom,
cucumber, avocado and pine nut sided with potato wedges and wasabi coleslaw.
Carbonara with Beef Bacon / Shredded Chicken [RM28]
Their rendition of carbonara was simply heavenly with parmesan cream with mushrooms.
Absolutely in love with their very unique deep fried molten egg coated in
bread crumbs and seaweed, from here we can see the chefs are crazily skilled!
Macademia and Salted Caramel Cheesecake Sundae RM17.50 | Chocolate and Raisin Cheesecake RM15
Every meal should end with something sweet, or maybe sinful.
Perfect choices for the sweet tooth, personally love the cheesecake as it wasn't cloying at all.
Apple Mint Lemonade [RM10] | Rose Lychee Frostie [RM12.50]
Newly added to the menu, both were pleasing to the eyes and refreshing.
Personally love the lemonade where the sweet and hint of sourness rejuvenated my throat, and soul.
Here's their on-going promotion and Christmas treat that you wouldn't want to miss!
And that's a wrap!
Huge thanks to the team from Delicious Group and Eastern and Oriental Group
for arranging and feeding us! We had fun! *burrpp*
