Five27 Chulia Court

Previously located at Straits Quay, now relocated to the busy Chulia Street,
this 2-storey restaurant cum bar has much to offer.
The interior is jaw-droppingly gorgeous with the color theme of yellow,
maroon and turquoise, retro with a little bit of quirk.
Couldn't contain myself but to force ask Kenneth for some narcissistic shots
(how can I not, right?)
Spacious dining area serving international cuisine on the first floor, bar on the second floor.
In love with this corner by the window, glamorous and picturesque.
Perfect spot for drinks while indulging yourself in music.
They have their very own in-house DJ spinning every night,
live band playing every Friday and Saturday from 9.45pm onwards.
Al-fresco area with comfy cushions, I can totally zonk out here
if I were to hang out with my alcoholic friends(I get sleepy after like, 3 beers).
Entertainment like foosball and snooker are available too.

 House Sangria(red) [RM16 per glass / RM45 per 500ml / RM75 per litre]
Happy Hour starts from 5-10pm, half price on cocktail and beer.
Loaded Nachos[RM24]
One of the Tex-Mex specialties, I didn't expect we could get it here!
Topped with olive slices, beef chunks, chopped chilies and melted cheddar+mozarella cheese.
Comes with 4 dips: Sour cream, beef chili, guacamole and salsa.
Beef chili dip is quite eye-opening.
Mushroom Soup(Mediterranean) [RM12]
Some of them find it too creamy, but that's exactly what I'm looking for.
Thick, creamy and loads of mushroom chunks!
This dish would be perfect if they were to use baguette instead of
toast for the garlic bread as there's not much texture to it.
Japanese Tataki Tuna Salad(Asian) [RM26]
The colorful and pretty presentation is absolutely taste bud tantalizing.
70% seared tuna fish rolled in sesame seeds with mixed salad leaves, French beans,
pearl shallots, boiled egg and Japanese style ponzu dressing.
Love the way the tuna is prepared. Raw and soft in between, delicate nutty taste
and crunch from the sesame seeds, simply satisfying.
Dip in ponzu dressing for extra flavor.
Indonesian Oxtail Soup [RM25]
Mildly spiced clear oxtail soup served with white rice, chili sambal, achar and crackers.
I find the soup bland, nothing much to shout about but luckily the chili sambal saved the day!
Giving the dish an extra spicy kick, the ordinary looking chili almost popped my Asian eyes.
Beef Meatball(Scandinavian) [RM39]
Meatballs are pretty dense and very well spiced.
Served with creamed potato, brown sauce, cranberry&raspberry jam, and pickled cucumber.
Spaghetti Aglio Olio(Mediterranean) [RM25]
Spaghetti was cooked to al-dente with prawns and clams, just slightly too sour and soupy.
Overall was not bad.
Pan Seared Salmon [RM33]
Served in honey&dill mustard sauce with baby potatoes and balsamic caramelized onion.
Crispy skin and tender meat, it would be perfect if it's raw in the middle, giving the layering texture.
Slow Cooked Lamb(Scandinavian) [RM48]
Lamb was braised for at least three hours to tender, served with creamed potato,
artichokes, mojo rojo sauce and topped with citrus apple salad.
Not a fan of lamb, I find the lamb tender and flavorful. The zesty sweet apple salad on top is creative.
Chocolate Bomb [RM15]
Brilliant layering of milk chocolate and chocolate truffles with balsamic,
topped with fresh strawberries. I don't like milk chocolate but I just couldn't stop
digging and digging after my first bite, felt sorry to the rest who wanted to savor more.
Just kidding I actually didn't feel sorry at all. This is absolutely the bomb!
Coffee Gula Melaka Cafe [RM9.50] ; Pineapple Cake [RM9.50]
Chocolate Blondie [RM15]
Brownies' light-colored sister. Instead of cocoa, it's normally based on brown sugar.
Texture is soft but slightly too sweet for me, sweet tooth would fall head over heels for this.
Last but not least, the most important thing
Mandatory picture of me looking into distance, cause there's no book for me to hold this time.
Thank you Five27 for extending the invitation and the warm hosting!
