Because vacation is too mainstream

Because vacation is too mainstream I can't afford vacation anymore at the moment,
so excursions would do. But again, they were more like food marathons.
2D1N in Hatyai back in January, for the second time.
Departed early in the morning, w/ cousins and a friend. I was so wide awake!
Bumped into Erene and family, who I haven't seen for at least 3 years at the money changer.
Pauline who was talking throughout the journey, now I know why I was wide awake.
Had early lunch at a mall once we arrived; Coffee and super sweet thub thim krob.
Not sure what does this called but it's like Yong Tau Fu w/ thin koay teow topped w/ super crispy stuff.
Didn't want to ask what it was as the last time I ate a packet of unknown crunchy crackers
they served and almost threw up when they told me it was fried pig skin.
The famous tu ka bui(猪脚饭), not a fan of it.
Strolled around the streets after dropping off our luggage at Mayflower.
And had gelato at the pretty Gelate at the mall after we were done shopping.
It rained heavily later on, guess Bruno Mars was heartbroken again.
Hopped on a tut-tut to somewhere far away for buffet dinner,
Thai massage later on(which was a bad idea) and we called it a day.
Bought 15 of these back; Those who haven't tried them, they're irresistibly good!
Unlike usual Portuguese tart, they're super crunchy at the outside
while super soft and creamy on the inside. Writing this made me drool!
Still wondering why they still don't have it in Malaysia..
Boots goods!;Was supposed to get CNY clothes there but
didn't buy much as cousin was sick on the second day.
Oh well.

NEXT: 3D2N in KL
I know it's not a big deal to those who travel Penang to KL often, but I was excited for this.
Not sure if it's been awhile since I last been there, but for the first time, I think KLCC is beautiful.
Another reason why I was excited, my tour guide, Colleen was back from NZ.
Doesn't she look like Cheesie?
Had Korean food for lunch at Times Square; Awesome sundubu jjigae and dduk bbok ki!
Meet Fresh to rest our feet, ended up buying nothing there.
Back to Sungai Wang to get our car, and bumped into Lynn and Ling2! What a coincidence!
Cheked out Michael Kors at Pavilion and dropped by En Ginza Tokyo Street for macarons.
Couldn't resist the luxurious looking tiramisu, so we ended up having high-tea hah!
It's more like a cheese cake, tiny but really good. And expensive too.
Chilled at Overtime Tropicana, and the long day ended.
Brunch at Yokotaya, Kepong the next day.
Colleen kept emphasizing how good their food is, thought she was exaggerating.
But she wasn't at all! The salmon sashimi and unagi are really good!
So Zhi Ping, you know where to go now hah!
Spent the afternoon at the green FRIM w/ a box of macarons that almost killed me from sugar-overdosed.
It was sunny during the photoshoot, and it started to rain once we left. Lucky us.
Went home to change and off to Ikea, ended up buying nothing.
Chilled w/ Calvin and gf at Escobar Bukit Damansara.
Thought I was weird for ordering Caffe Latte, but both the couple ordered coffee too. Whee!
Awesome pizza; Sausage wrapped w/ bacon. In love w/ bacon ever since 9gag LOL!
Bak kut teh Kepong the next morning; Weird thing was they don't have the black soy sauce.
Shopped a bit and almost fainted at 1-U, took a nap and went back to Penang.
Bought clothes which are so-not-me, time to change? Marks&Spencer's tortillas are finger-lickin-good
Anyway, had a great time catching up w/ those in KL.
Now praying hard for the September trip
*fingers crossed*

Cheers Restaurant & Bierhaus

For an old person like me(yes, getting really old),
I'm overwhelmed by the increasing number of places
that appeared out of no where in Penang, especially beer house.
And here I was at CHEERS Restaurant & Bierhaus, the one located at Tanjung Tokong.
Credit to Gourmet Garden and Cheryl for inviting.

Disclaimer: I was sick throughout the food review,
so do forgive me if there's any confusion, unclearness or such.

Here are some pictures of the interior:
The atmosphere was warm and surprisingly not hazy at all.
They play jazzy, soft oldies in the afternoon instead of loud club hitz,
one thing I like about this place(and I suggested them The Beatles!)
Oh well, they do play loud music at night.
So good news to those who wants to put your hands in the ayer.
But most of all, they have darts and pool!
Stairway to heaven, I mean upstairs; Cute wallpaper they have!
It's a non-smoking area, good news for me!

Okay now, why do people love hanging out at beer house?
In my opinion, it's because:
They want to get wasted, they want to mingle, they don't know where to go,
they're heartbroken and they don't want to stay emo at home, they're thirsty,
they're bored, and this is going no where..
But now, who goes to a beer house to get inspiration?
It's hard to not notice those Words of Wisdom on the wall everywhere.
At first I thought it was strange to find these at a beer house
But think about it, maybe they are designed for the lost and the heartbroken,
letting them know that the world is still full of hope and refraining them from,
you know, killing themselves?
Now the name of the place make sense, CHEERS!
But wait, that's just the thing you say before you clang your drinks..

Anyway, to the FOOD!
Homemade Mushroom Soup, RM9.80
Not sure but I think they use smoked mushrooms which makes their soup special.
Most of all, it comes w/ complimentary garlic bread, how great is that?
Fisherman Sensation, RM29.80
Chessy mussels, dory, seabass, and cute little baby octopus w/ garlic butter sauce.
Seafood Chicken, RM31.80
What's weird was it's w/ mandarin orange sauce, but the combination wasn't bad at all!
It's basically baked chicken chop w/ seafood on top and a surprise mashed yam underneath.
Look at the cheesseeeee
Kraby Patty! Nah, I made that up.
Special Jumbo Burger, RM21.80
Super crispy bun spread w/ garlic butter sauce, pork and seafood filling.
Comes w/ coleslaw and me favorite french fries!
BBQ Ribs, RM29.80
Baked ribs marinated w/ homemade BBQ sauce, same surprise mashed yam underneath too.
Pork knuckles, RM29.80
Served w/ Thai salsa and beer reduction sauce.

Don't really remember the taste as I was getting really sick,
so you gotta try them yourself!
And who knows? You might get your future predicted there!
